Hello everyone, Wald here. You may have noticed it’s been about two weeks since my last post. That wasn’t by choice—I’ve been deep in technical documentation, test standards, and communication with overseas labs. The reason? We at ZHUOZHU are currently preparing for two major certifications: the Canadian ULC certification and the European CE certificate under EN13501.
I want to share why these matter, not just for us as a manufacturer, but for you as buyers, contractors, and project owners.
What We’re Pursuing: ULC and CE EN13501
The ULC certification is essential for entering the Canadian market. It covers standards developed by Underwriters Laboratories of Canada, with a strong emphasis on fire performance and overall product safety. For our sandwich panels, achieving ULC listing means independent verification that our products meet the stringent requirements expected by Canadian building codes and specifiers. It opens doors for our panels to be used in projects across North America where such certification is non-negotiable.
The CE EN13501 certificate deals with fire classification of construction products in the European Union. EN13501 is the harmonized standard that classifies materials based on their reaction to fire—ratings like A1, A2, B, C, and so on—along with additional criteria such as smoke production and flaming droplets. For insulated panels used in building envelopes, cold rooms, and cleanrooms, having a clear and independently tested fire class is critical. It gives architects and engineers the data they need to specify materials with confidence, knowing exactly how they will behave in a fire scenario.

We Already Have CE EN14509—Why Add More?
Some of you know that ZHUOZHU already holds the CE certificate under EN14509, the European standard specifically for factory-made, self-supporting double-skin metal-faced insulating panels. That certificate has served us well and satisfied the requirements of many clients across different regions. It covers thermal performance, mechanical resistance, durability, and more. For a long time, it was sufficient.
But here’s the thing: as word spreads about the quality of our panels, something interesting has been happening. New clients—some of them large procurement companies, others specialized construction firms—have been reaching out to us proactively. They’ve heard about ZHUOZHU’s panels, they like what they see in our existing test reports, but they need something more. They operate in markets where ULC is mandatory, or where EN13501 fire classification is a contractual requirement. They want to work with us, and they ask: “Do you have these certifications?”
Quality Recognized, Standards Raised
That’s a good problem to have. It means our products are gaining recognition in broader and more demanding circles. It also means we need to step up. Getting the EN14509 certificate was an achievement at the time, but the construction materials industry doesn’t stand still. Different regions have different regulatory frameworks, and the most successful partnerships are built when a manufacturer can provide exactly the compliance documentation the client needs—without excuses or workarounds.
So, over the past two weeks, I’ve been coordinating with our technical team and external testing laboratories, gathering data, preparing samples, and studying the specific testing protocols for both ULC and EN13501. It is a significant investment of time and resources, but we believe it’s the right move. These certifications will allow us to serve clients in Canada, the broader EU, and any international project where such credentials are part of the specification.
What This Means for You
If you’re a contractor or buyer who has been considering ZHUOZHU panels but needed that extra layer of certified fire performance or North American compliance, we hear you. We are actively working to close that gap. While I can’t give an exact date for completion—good testing takes time—I can tell you that it’s a priority. We’ll share the results as soon as they are in hand.
In the meantime, our existing product lines continue to be manufactured under our established quality management system, backed by the certifications and test reports we already hold. For projects that require only EN14509 or other regional standards we currently meet, it’s business as usual, with the same attention to detail we’ve always had.
Thank you for your patience with the slower article updates. Behind the scenes, we’re not standing still—we’re building the foundation for the next stage of ZHUOZHU’s growth. If you have a project that needs specific certifications or if you just want to talk panels, cold rooms, or steel structures, feel free to reach out. I’m Wald, and I’ll be back soon with more technical insights. In the meantime, wish us luck with the testing.
